Fun in Brunswick

This past weekend we were able to visit family down in Brunswick, GA. Jimmy's sister and her family live and invited us down for a fun filled weekend. Jimmy's parents, Aunt Sue and the Kennedy's (friends of Jimmy's folks) also made the trip. This was our first trip taking Reid ANYWHERE! He and Cameryn were both wonderful travelers - of course, it helped that we drove at night while the kiddos were sleeping :-)
Here are a couple of pics from our visit - Jimmy's mom took a whole bunch more and hopefully I can get copies of those to upload as well.

The Tripod Sit

Yep, Reid is pulling off the old tripod sit! I of course have to put him into the sitting position, but he is able to maintain that position for a good minute before he topples over! Another milestone...yeah!!!

Cameryn Sings her ABC's

Cameryn has been singing her ABC's for about 8 months now, but this is the first time I've recorded her...and yes, she ALWAYS cheers for herself!

Reid LOVES Sweet Potatoes!

As promised, here is a pic of Reid's first experience with 'real' food. We opted to try sweet potatoes first because that is what Cameryn started with and she turned out to be a pretty good eater. As you can see, he thoroughly enjoyed his food - not sure if he like eating it or wearing it more. Like my mom always said, "it can't taste good unless it feels good!" Oh, I also dug out an old picture of Cameryn's first sweet potato experience - it's so fun to compare...

The Frustrations of Immobility

My first attempt at uploading a short video clip... As you can see, Reid is trying his best to scoot around - he just hasn't figured out the exact mechanics just yet...shouldn't be long off though, and then it's "watch out world!!!"

Reid and Brady - Take 3!

As I've blogged about previously, Jimmy's old college roommate Erich has a son named Brady who is two weeks older than Reid. Big difference - Brady was born on his due date while Reid made his big debut 13 weeks early. Obviously, Brady had a bit of a head start in the size department. I thought it would be fun to chronicle the side by side growth of the boys by taking pics every few months. This picture was taken when the boys were about 3 months old...that's just sad! The next picture was taken when they were about 6 months...still smaller, but catching up! And finally, this picture was taken last Friday, which puts the boys at about 7 months. This one makes me laugh because Brady is looking down on Reid as if to say, "what is that little thing?" It will be so much fun seeing Reid and Brady grow up together...who knows, they just might wind up being college roommates someday :-)

Oatmeal Cereal??? Now We're Talking...

I noticed about a month ago that Reid was getting increasingly frustrated with his bottle feedings. I tried everything from increasing the volume to feeding him more often and even tried graduating to a faster flow nipple. This last attempt was a bad idea as it caused him to drink his bottle in about 4 minutes flat and resulted in some pretty impressive projectile...well, you get the idea. I'd been considering rice cereal, but just didn't know what the protocol was for preemies. So, I waited it out and asked Dr. Kahn about it at our last appointment (which was Feb. 2nd). She gave us the green light for cereal! We've been feeding him some oatmeal each night for about a week. His oatmeal, by the way, neither looks nor smells like my Quaker Oats Maple Sugar favorite - not sure why he likes it so much, but he does! Here are some pics of his first 'solid food' attempt - pretty messy stuff. Unfortunately, his internal alarm clock is still going off at 3 am every morning, so the cereal hasn't really helped in that area...stop laughing Janine. Oh, and check back for more pics soon...we are starting stage 1 foods next week!

Welcome Daisy!

As I'm sure most of you know, I found a puppy about two weeks ago. Jimmy and I were walking home from my parents house (7 doors up from ours), when we spotted a tiny dog hiding under a parked car. I of course went to investigate - I mean really, who can possibly walk past an abandoned animal without doing anything to help? I pulled out the puppy and my heart sank as I noticed that she didn't have on a collar. And she was terrified. Like shaking and cowering to the ground terrified. Well, my heart, which had moments ago sank, began to melt. I knew I couldn't bring her to our house as we have two super big dogs (some even call them horses) that was traumatize her even more. As I've mentioned before, Frank the Tank can be a big finicky with his choice of canine pals. Anyway, I took her up to my parents house, not really knowing what to expect. You see, I have a bit of history with my parents in this department. In high school, I rescued two kittens from an abandoned construction site and brought them to my mom (I should mention that my dad is highly allergic to cats). We found them both homes. Then, also in high school, my boyfriend showed up with a puppy as a Valentines Day present...mind you, we had only been dating for about a month and he didn't really talk to my parents about the gift prior to gifting. That puppy is still around and can be found living at my parents house...his name is Mac and he is now 11 years old. About two years ago I found another kitten in my neighborhood and took it to who else? Mom. Our vets office took it in the next day. So here we are back to the present story about the lost puppy. Surprisingly, mom and dad weren't too upset about my 'gifting' them with yet another animal. I guess they are just used to it by now :-) So without further ado, I'd like to introduce the latest addition to the Noyes household...meet Daisy!
